Bhotekoshi floods: Rescue team mobilized at Rasuwagadhi hydropower project site

Kathmandu. A rescue team has been mobilized to search for the missing people from the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project site.

Due to the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River on the morning of August 24, 93 people working in the 111 MW capacity project have gone missing. According to the private secretariat of Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, the work of conducting recce is being carried out by the technical and expert team from the helicopter of the Nepal Army.

According to the Independent Power Producers’ Association, Nepal (IPPAN), 93 people have gone missing after the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project collapsed.

According to IPPAN, 49 employees of Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Company are out of contact. Two are wage employees. 35 employees of Sherpa Hydro Construction, which is involved in the construction, are out of contact. Four are from CWE and three from Vonas Construction.

Four of the six survivors were rescued by army helicopter after two days of being rescued.
