Kathmandu. The government has appointed registrars in six universities including Tribhuvan University (TU).

Prime Minister and University Chancellor Balendra Shah appointed the rector and registrar on the recommendation of the Vice-Chancellor of the concerned university.

Prof. Dr. Anjana Maharjan Singh has been appointed as the Rector of Tribhuvan University and Prof. Ravindra Shiwakoti has been appointed as the Registrar. Shiwakoti is a professor in the Faculty of Education at Tribhuvan University, while Singh is a professor in the Faculty of Science.

Likewise, Prof Dr Panna Thapa has been appointed as the registrar of Purbanchal University, Prof Dr Nirmala Jamarkattel as the registrar of Pokhara University and Prof Dr Tara Dutta Bhatta as the registrar of Sudurpaschim University.

Associate Professor Dr. Sudip Thakuri has been appointed as the Registrar of Mid-Western University. Dr. Sudip Thakuri has been appointed as the Registrar of Rajarshi Janak University. Jeevan Kafle has been appointed.

The newly appointed rectors and registrars took oath of office and secrecy amidst a function organized at the Ministry of Education and Sports today.

On the occasion, Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel directed the newly appointed officials to work with teamwork and effective coordination for the improvement and overall development of the university. He stressed the need for strong cooperation between the vice-chancellor, registrar and university officials for the improvement of higher education.

Stressing the need for all to work responsibly to develop the University into an excellent and research-based institution, Minister Pokharel expressed commitment that the Ministry would facilitate for the same.

Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Chudamani Poudel, expressed the belief that the newly appointed officials would play an important role in transforming the university and making its work result-oriented. Advisor to the minister, Shailendra Jha, stressed the need to play an active role in improving the quality of education, examination system and capacity building of the university.

Tribhuvan University vice-chancellor Prof Dr Bhola Thapa stressed the need for effective coordination among the universities to focus on producing quality human resources.

Newly appointed Registrar of Pokhara University, Prof Dr Nirmala Jamarkattel, expressed commitment to discharge her responsibility efficiently.

Vice-chancellors of various universities and high officials of the Ministry were present on the occasion.
