National Cooperative Bank announces relief package for flood victims

Kathmandu. The National Cooperative Bank has announced a financial assistance package of more than Rs 31.60 lakh for the relief and rehabilitation of the citizens and cooperatives affected by the floods and landslides in the Bhotekoshi-Trishuli region.

The members of the bank’s Board of Directors and Accounts Supervision Committee have decided to donate their one-day meeting allowance as relief. As per the decision, Rs 5,55,555 will be deposited in the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund, said the bank’s Executive Officer (CEO) Badri Guragain.TAG_OPEN_div_16

TAG_OPEN_div_14 The bank has allocated Rs 20 lakh for the rehabilitation, preservation of records and technology management of the affected cooperatives, saying that the physical structures and records of various cooperatives have also been damaged due to floods and landslides. The amount will be distributed in coordination with the concerned District Cooperative Associations, the bank said.

Similarly, the employees of the bank have also collected Rs 6,TAG_OPEN_div_12 04,532 for relief during the disaster. Out of the amount collected, the bank has provided Rs 50,000 each to the families of the missing and three employees working at the Nuwakot branch who were damaged in their personal homes and property.

The bank said it will continue its support to restore the cooperative sector affected by the disaster and provide relief to the affected families.TAG_OPEN_div_10
