33 districts at high risk of flash floods

Kathmandu. The Flood Forecasting Division of the Water Resources and Hydrology Research Center has said that the water level in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli and surrounding rivers will increase today and there is a high possibility of flash floods.

Flood expert Saraswati Bista of the Division urged the residents of the river banks that flow through Rasuwa and Nuwakot to adopt high alertness. He said, “The lake has formed near the Nepal-China border. The lake can burst at any time, so we have been urging the general public to be on high alert until further notice. There is also a high risk of flooding in these districts today and tomorrow as there is a possibility of rain.TAG_OPEN_div_10 ”

According to Bista, the water level will rise in the rivers and rivulets in Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Ramechhap, Dolakha, Sindhupalchowk, Kavrepalanchowk, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kathmandu, Dhading, Makwanpur, Chitwan, Gorkha, Tanahun, Lamjung, Manang, Kaski, Syangja, Parbat, Myagdi, Baglung, East Rukum, Rukum West, Rolpa, Salyan, Surkhet, Jajarkot, Darchula, Baitadi, Dadeldhura and Kanchanpur districts.TAG_OPEN_div_8

The Division has urged the people living in the coastal areas and traveling along the river banks to remain alert as there is a risk of flash floods in the small rivers and rivulets of these areas.TAG_OPEN_div_6
