Kathmandu. Prime Minister Balendra Shah has said that we have suffered a big punishment for the negligible mistakes we have made. He said that the flood in the Bhotekoshi river in Rasuwa is the result of this.
Stating that this disaster is very painful for us, he said through his personal social media today, “We have been telling the world for a long time that due to climate change, there is a big impact on the Himalayan region, the mountains are melting. Its impact is not only in the Himalayan region but also reaching the seashore. The fear that we had from the past has actually come in the form of a massive flood in the Bhotekoshi River of Rasuwa.” Stating that Nepal has faced a tragic incident, he said that we should seek answers from the world community and we should answer to the human civilization about it.TAG_OPEN_div_44
Prime Minister Shah said that natural disaster management is a challenge for everyone and we are working day and night using the available resources. He also said that we are also getting help from the international level in this disaster. He said that in coordination with the country and local governments, various holding centers are being set up in the affected areas and the citizens are being settled. He said that food, clothes and daily consumables are being provided to the affected.TAG_OPEN_div_42
“There are 2,796 people living in 24 holding centers operating in Nuwakot. We are operating holding centers in 5 holding centers in Rasuwa and 2 in Kathmandu and 300 people of different affected areas of Rasuwa by operating holding centers. Similarly, we are distributing relief to 4500 people of different areas of Rasuwa every day through helicopters,” he said.

Prime Minister Shah said that immediately after the floods, we took information about the incident from the local employees and people’s representatives of the affected districts and started the disaster response on the basis of the initial information given by them. He said that the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers is also in direct communication with them and their grievances are also being addressed.TAG_OPEN_div_36
} “On the same day of the incident, the meeting of the Council of Ministers had declared the local levels of the affected districts as disaster-hit areas for a period of three months as per Section 32 of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act, 2074,” he said.

Infrastructure Restoration

Prime Minister Shah said that work is underway to restore the infrastructure affected by the floods. He said that in the affected areas, more than 95 percent of the media sector and only 5.77 percent of the households are left to have electricity service. He said that work is being done at a rapid pace under the leadership of the concerned ministries to restore other infrastructures. He said that the infrastructure restoration is another relief for the people affected by the disaster.
“The construction of the Galchi-Muglin road section has been started at the hillside of Krishnabhir so that vehicles can operate from the ‘gabion breastwall’. The work of cutting trees and cutting the wall to open the track has started from today,” he said, “Necessary study will be done on the option of tunnel, soil nailing, seat pile and other options to solve the problem of Krishnabhir in the long term. We will start traffic on the road section by August.” The diversion has been constructed at Parewabhir and the traffic has started and the work of upgrading it is also going on. ”
Out of 10 kilometers of the Trishuli-Vetrawati road section, sediment has been removed in 8 kilometers and work is going on in the remaining 2 kilometers. He said that an emergency tender has been called for work on the damaged additional 35 kilometers. According to him, the construction of the foundation has already started to place a bailey bridge in Tadi. Efforts are being made to reach the bailey bridge in Tadi by tomorrow. The survey has been done to install a bailey bridge in Betrawati and the construction of the foundation has started. The survey at Trishuli has been completed. He said that a 120-meter bailey bridge is needed at the site.
