Kathmandu. Goods entering Nepal from Korala border point in Mustang can now be cleared from the Chovar Dry Port Customs Office in Kathmandu. The Department of Customs has fixed the road route for the clearance of goods imported from the Mustang Customs Office through the Chobhar Dry Port.

With the decision of the department, the goods coming from Korala border point can be brought to Kathmandu under the designated internal transport facility without passing the inspection at Mustang and cleared from the Chobhar Dry Port Customs Office. This provision will be applicable until further notice, the department said.

According to the department, it has been decided to provide domestic transportation facilities by following the conditions and procedures stipulated in the customs regulations. For this, cargo vehicles have to enter from Korala border point and reach the dry port at Chovar via Nechung-Chhusang-Kagbeni-Jomsom-Beni-Kushma-Pokhara-Damauli-Muglin-Kurintar-Naubise-Kalanki.

In case of any problem on the designated route, alternative routes can also be used. In such a situation, vehicles can reach the dry port via Muglin-Narayangadh-Hetauda-Bhaise-Naubise-Kalanki-Chobhar.

Similarly, the Department has determined to use the Hetauda-bound route for the new vehicles plying the road.

The Korala border point in Mustang has been used as an alternative border point for trade with China after the Rasuwagadhi border point was affected by the devastating floods. In order to facilitate the import from Korala, a check pass has been made from the Chobhar dry port.

This arrangement is expected to make it easier to complete the customs process of goods imported from Korala border in Kathmandu itself. In addition, it will remove the compulsion of importers to pass the check in Mustang, which will make business activities easier.
