Inedible items in Sonepapadi, questions about the quality of international brand food

Kathmandu. Many people eat Sonpapadi as a sweet, which melts as soon as it is put in the mouth. It is considered as a normal and safe food, especially because it is easily eaten by children and family members. But today, I found hard things of unusual nature in Sonpapadi that I bought from a store in Kathmandu.

On Friday afternoon, he bought Sonpapadi from a mart in Kathmandu and was sitting in the office and eating. While eating this object, for the first time, the hard object reached the throat. The hard object in the mouth immediately took out it in his hand and looked like a piece of plastic object.

He was able to take out the object in time. After that, I took a photo of the object. The incident did not stop there. Forgetting that the first time I found a hard object, while I was busy at work, I again put the Sonpapadi food in my mouth from the same box. This time too, another hard object fell in my mouth. Immediately, he took the object out of his mouth and spat on the cover of the food he was eating.

The object found for the second time appears to be of a different nature from the first. In the same box, the first item looks like a piece of plastic, but the second item appears like a piece of bone. Even when the object was cleaned with a tissue, it looked like a bone fragment.

The product I am eating is ‘Cardamom Sonpapadi’. It is mentioned that sukumel and other flavored ingredients are used in the product. The packet also contains pictures related to the ingredients used in the product and the taste.

However, both the items found in Sonpapadi are not compatible with the ingredients mentioned in the product packet. The problem is that hard substances are found in the food that melts when put in the mouth, especially like Sonpapadi.

I have preserved both the items I found. Photos of both items are mentioned here.

{{TAG_OPEN_div_49} After purchasing the said Sonapapadi, while searching for its authorized seller and importer for Nepal, it was found that on the outer cover of Sonapadi, it was mentioned as Kathmandu Marketing, 548 Baraha Marg, Sukedhara.

TAG_OPEN_div_46 According to the description on the cover of the said Sonpapadi, the brand of the product is found to be in India. The name of Sundar Biscuit Industries has been mentioned as the manufacturer. According to the company’s website, the company has been selling and exporting its food products not only in India but also in various international markets.

However, the incident raises the question of how the quality of the products and food safety of the companies selling the products in the international market are being monitored.TAG_OPEN_div_44

This is the most worrying matter for the consumer. When an unusual item is found twice in the same Sonpapadi box, it is proved that the food items imported from outside Nepal are not of good quality.

I have also given Sonpapadi to the child at home. I believed that there would be no problem in it as it was a food that melted as soon as it was put in the mouth. But after finding such a thing myself, now it is scary to even give it to the child.

Why do consumers have to be suspicious and afraid every time they eat food? Who will ensure the quality of food sold in the market? Doesn’t consumers have the right to eat food with safety, quality and confidence?TAG_OPEN_div_37
