Kathmandu. Entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist Chirag Goyal has been appointed as a director of Excel Development Bank. He was elected as a member of the board of directors at the bank’s 20th annual general meeting.
Goyal’s entry into the board of directors of Excel Development Bank, one of the major financial institutions in eastern Nepal, is seen as a significant step in bringing his vast professional and entrepreneurial experience to the banking sector.
Goyal has long been involved in various sectors including production, trade, banking and finance, insurance, real estate, mining, renewable energy, agriculture, hospitality and construction.
Along with his business, Goyal has also been active in the social and humanitarian sector for more than a decade. After the 2015 earthquake, his social journey started through Helping Hands Nepal has continued by collaborating with various initiatives including Robin Hood Arm Nepal.
These include food assistance, education, health, disaster management, flood relief mobilization, corona response and Project Fog. Where he has played a role in resource mobilization and direct support by connecting volunteers, organizations, business sectors and communities.
A well-known face in the field of youth leadership and entrepreneurship, Goyal led the Nepalese Young Enterprise Forum Kathmandu from 2021 to 2023. He is also the co-founder of the Nepal Center for Political Leadership.
Goyal’s appointment is expected to further strengthen corporate governance and long-term value creation at Excel Development Bank.
This reflects his vision to make collaboration among the private sector, financial institutions, youth leadership and community more effective in Nepal’s economic and social development.
