Kathmandu. Lawmaker Ashika Tamang has expressed anger against the government, accusing the entrepreneurs of not selling gas to the consumers despite the availability of gas in the market.

She said that she receives thousands of calls a day and people are complaining that the shopkeepers are not giving them to the consumers even though there is gas in the shop.

“I get calls a thousand times a day — Aashika didi, there is gas in the shop, the traders don’t give it,” she said. It was not as if there was gold in the glass. ’

Tamang questioned the tendency of harassing the general public by creating an artificial shortage of cooking gas.

She said that it is a serious matter that people are starving due to lack of cooking despite having gas in their shops. She said that the purpose of sending people to Parliament is to find a solution to such problems.

“There is gas in the shops, people have not sent us here to see the day when people will go hungry,” she said.

She also demanded that the government should clearly declare “no gas” today itself if there is a real shortage of cooking gas in the market.

“If there is no gas, the government should have told the people today — find firewood, cook rice and eat it,” Tamang said.

She also took a dig at the daily shortage of gas every month and the tendency to change ministers instead of solving the problem.

“If we change the minister just because there is a shortage of gas every month, then the minister’s queue will be longer than that of gas,” she said.

He demanded that the government take immediate steps to resolve the problems seen in the supply of gas, make market monitoring effective and make the gas available in the shops easily to the consumers.
