17 branches of various banks affected by floods, loss of Rs 72 crore

{{TAG_OPEN_div_28} Kathmandu. Floods in Bhotekoshi of Rasuwa on August 26 have affected 17 branches of 12 banks.

According to the Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment (RDNA) report prepared by the National Planning Commission and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), the loss was worth Rs 720 million.TAG_OPEN_div_26

The highest number of these has been in the Agriculture Development Bank. One branch of the bank has suffered a loss of Rs 65 crore. According to the authority, a branch of Citizen Bank has been affected and a loss of Rs 1.56 crore has been incurred.TAG_OPEN_div_24

A branch of Global IME Bank has suffered a loss of Rs 11 lakh. A branch of Himalaya Bank has suffered a loss of Rs 75 lakh. A branch of Laxmi Sunrise Bank has suffered a loss of Rs 1.12 crore.TAG_OPEN_div_22

One branch of Machhapuchchhre Bank has been affected and one branch of Nabil Bank has suffered a loss of Rs 75 lakh, while one branch of Nabil Bank has suffered a loss of Rs 63 lakh. Three branches of NIC Asia Bank have been affected and three branches of Nepal Investment Bank have suffered a loss of Rs 88 lakh, while three branches of Nepal Investment Bank have suffered a loss of Rs 40 lakh.TAG_OPEN_div_20

Similarly, a branch of NMB Bank was affected and a loss of Rs 4 lakh was incurred. Two branches of Prabhu Bank were affected, causing a loss of Rs 53 lakh, while a branch of Sanima Bank was affected and a loss of Rs 63 lakh.TAG_OPEN_div_18

According to the report, banks and financial services have been damaged in the flood-affected areas. Four branches of the bank in Bidur Municipality of Nuwakot have suffered a loss of Rs 67.13 crore. In Gosaikunda Rural Municipality of Rasuwa, 11 branches have lost Rs 42.3 million, Kalika Rural Municipality of Rasuwa has lost Rs 2.8 million and a branch of a bank in Uttargaya of the same district has been affected.TAG_OPEN_div_16

Apart from this amount, a separate amount of Rs TAG_OPEN_div_14 19.59 crore has been damaged. According to the report, Rs 6.4 crore has been damaged in Bidur of Nuwakot, Rs 9.53 crore in Gosaikunda of Rasuwa, Rs 79 lakh in Kalika rural municipality and Rs 3.23 crore in Uttargaya rural municipality.
