KATHMANDU — Prime Minister Balendra Shah has expressed his commitment to ensure that there will be no shortage of resources for the post-flood rehabilitation of the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa.

During a discussion with the people’s representatives of the project survivors at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers today, he shared that the government was making preparations to use the available resources and donor agencies for the rehabilitation.

He expressed the belief that today’s discussion with the people’s representatives of the flood-affected local levels would help keep their morale high.

During the discussion, Prime Minister Shah said that he was happy to hear from the people’s representatives of the affected areas that there was immediate coordination between the federal, state and local levels during the disaster. Targeting the people’s representatives, he said, “Earlier, we used to hear that there is no coordination between the federal, provincial and local levels, but in this disaster, we stood together and worked together.” ”

Prime Minister Shah said that the government was continuously working to restore the road network in the affected areas as soon as possible. He expressed the belief that with the resumption of the road network, it would be easier for the affected people to return to the previous situation on their own.

During the discussion, Prime Minister Shah said that from the beginning, the settlements on the banks of the river are at risk. He said that it is not possible to re-establish settlements in the coastal areas affected by the Rasuwa floods as stated by the local people’s representatives. For this, the government has started preparations to set up settlements in the nearby but safe places from the affected areas, he said.

He said, “Attention should be paid to the employment, education, health and culture of the affected people while establishing the settlement and the situation should be restored, while protecting the arable land and managing the scientific settlement.” For this, the Prime Minister urged the local representatives to identify the land on their own and recommend it to the federal government.
