Kathmandu. The Krishnabhir section of the Prithvi Highway, which was blocked due to the devastating floods in the Trishuli River, will be fully operational from September 15.

According to the Department of Roads, about 100 meters of road in the Krishnabhir area was completely blocked due to river erosion due to the floods on August 26 and 28. The department has been carrying out the construction of new tracks and road rehabilitation by mobilizing the necessary resources, means, manpower and equipment for the operation of transport.

As many as 20 vehicles, including gas bullets, were plied from Kathmandu to Chitwan on Sunday as part of the test of the condition of the under-construction track and the feasibility of vehicular movement. Similarly, a heavy vehicle and some light vehicles were also successfully passed from Chitwan to Kathmandu, according to the Department of Roads.

According to the Department, regular vehicular movement has not been resumed from Krishnabhir section of the road at present as the remaining works related to road upgradation and safety are going on despite the successful test.

Spokesperson of the department, Shuvaraj Neupane, said that the road will be completely closed before the target to bring the road into full operation from September 1. The department has urged the passengers and stakeholders to follow the instructions issued by the concerned bodies regarding alternative routes.
