KATHMANDU: Former Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana, who was under police protection due to a security threat, has been returned to his private residence.

A team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office had taken Rana from his residence in Maharajgunj on Sunday midnight citing that he was a ‘security threat’.

The police took him to the office in the middle of the night after he was informed that Jabra was a ‘security threat’. No arrest warrant was issued to him.

Police said they had not arrested him and that they had provided him with information that there was a “security threat”.

Currently, Rana has been sent to his residence, a place where he feels safe.

According to highly-placed sources, some complaints were received at Hello Sarkar before Jung Rana was arrested.

In the complaint filed against him, it has been found that there are unfair dealings, middlemen and people close to the middlemen.

According to sources, it is possible that people close to Jabra are not involved in the improper transactions.

Sources claim that the concerned agencies of the state are investigating this matter.
