Lawmaker Dangi demands government to bring policy to sustain existing industries

Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (Rastriya Swatantra Party) lawmaker Nisha Dangi has said that the government’s initiative to reopen the jute mill in Biratnagar is positive. Speaking in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, she said that the government should pay attention to how to sustain the existing industries along with resuming the closed industries.

She said that the Nepali jute industry is being affected due to the increase in ‘anti-dumping duty’ imposed by India on Nepali jute products and the research on ‘countervailing duty’. She said that thousands of people have lost their jobs due to the closure of the industries and the jute produced by the farmers have to be thrown on the road.TAG_OPEN_div_10

She stressed that necessary diplomatic initiatives should be taken with India for the protection of Nepali jute industry. She also drew the attention of the government to take forward the process of revival of sick industries as per the Industrial Enterprise Act, 2076.TAG_OPEN_div_8
