Floods and landslides displace 300 families in Parbat

Parbat. 300 families have been displaced by floods and landslides in the district. Across the district, 170 houses have been completely damaged and 131 houses have been partially damaged.

According to the District Administration Office, various settlements in six out of seven municipalities have been damaged. The highest number of houses in Jaljala Rural Municipality has been severely damaged at 113 houses. 58 houses are at risk of landslides. As many as 171 families of Jaljala have been displaced.

Two houses were completely damaged in Kushma Municipality, 20 in Phalebas Municipality, nine in Bihadi Rural Municipality, two in Mahasheela Rural Municipality and 15 in Modi Rural Municipality. Chief District Officer Ganga Bahadur Chhetri said that 131 houses were partially damaged in the district.

Five school buildings, agricultural farms, temples, health and police posts have been damaged in the floods and landslides. The suspension bridge connecting Parbat and Baglung has also been damaged in the Maldhunga bridge of the Mid-Hill Highway. Rural roads in the district are still obstructed. He said that it will take a few more days to resume the Falebas-Bihadi and Lungkhudeurali-Huwas roads under the Kaligandaki Highway.

The local administration, local bodies and various social organisations including Nepal Red Cross Society have provided tarpaulins, food items, utensils, blankets, sanitation and medical treatment materials to the people displaced by the floods and landslides.
