KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has directed banks and financial institutions (BFIs) to appoint a responsible focal person to control the incidents of cyber fraud that may take place during the public holidays of Bijaya Dashami, Diwali and Chhath festivals.

KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has urged the banks and financial institutions (BFIs) to make such arrangement in order to timely receive the transaction details of the cases of financial fraud taking place during the public holiday and to identify suspicious accounts and transactions and make it easier to stop them immediately.

The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has asked the banks and financial institutions of class ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ to provide the name, designation and mobile number of the contact person to the email address [email protected] of Nepal Police Headquarters. In addition, duty or on-call email address that is monitored 24 hours a day should also be provided.

According to the NRB, this arrangement has been made to immediately identify suspicious transactions, exchange necessary details and make the investigation process effective in view of the possible incidents of cyber fraud during public holidays.
