Emphasis should be given on exports to bring in foreign currency, reduce trade deficit: Minister Sinha

Kathmandu. Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Anil Kumar Sinha has stressed the need of focusing on export to reduce trade deficit.

Addressing the 28th annual general meeting of the Export Council of Nepal (SEC) and the 10th Export Day here today, Minister Sinha stressed on the need of focusing on export to bring in foreign currency. According to him, it was necessary to increase the export sector which brings in foreign currency and reduces trade deficit.

Minister Sinha said that the country’s economy could be made dynamic by increasing the export of domestic goods. He said that although the government has tried its best to promote export, it has not been satisfied. Minister Sinha said, “The government is ready to ease the procedural and procedural problems seen in exports. Procedures are being prepared to encourage exports. ”

Chairman of the Export Council, Naresh Lal Shrestha, said that the government has stopped providing cash subsidy on export-oriented goods. He demanded immediate correction of the government’s decision to withhold cash grants. Nepal exported goods worth Rs 277.03 billion in the fiscal year 2081/82 and Rs 93.50 billion in the first four months of the current fiscal year.

The meeting elected Dr Ram Sharan Thapaliya as the chairman of the council. Similarly, Hari Prasad Dhakal has been elected the first vice-president, Hari Dhakal the second vice-president, Basanta Raj Adhikari the general secretary, Raju Baniya the treasurer, Amrit Man Shrestha the secretary and Harisharan Bhetwal the joint treasurer.

The elected members are Prem Raj Naral, Saraswati Sedhai Tripathi, Prabin Man Shrestha, Amir Bagale, Ram Kumar Thapaliya, Ram Krishna Bhattarai and Ananta Gupta.
