US-Iran diplomatic talks: Pakistan proposes new proposal

Kathmandu. Pakistan has proposed a second round of talks between the United States and Iran after the ongoing diplomatic talks between the United States and Iran showed signs of making some progress. The move is seen as an important step toward a possible solution at a time when regional tensions are rising.

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance recently said there was “some progress” in talks with Iran, while U.S. President Donald Trump said the other side was “willing to talk.” Against this backdrop, Pakistan has proposed to hold the next round of talks in Islamabad.

According to Pakistani officials on condition of anonymity, the proposal will move forward only with the consent of both sides. They stressed the need to find a solution through a continuous diplomatic process rather than a one-time talks.

Meanwhile, there are signs that tensions in the Middle East are escalating. A senior official of the Lebanon-based armed group Hezbollah has warned that the United States, Lebanon-Israel, will not abide by any agreement that will begin with the talks. This has challenged the direct Lebanon-Israel talks in Washington.

Lebanese officials are optimistic about a ceasefire with Israel. At least 2,089 people have been killed in the conflict. But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insisted on disarmament of Hezbollah and a long-term peace deal rather than an immediate ceasefire.

At the same time, the blockade of Iranian ports by the US and Iran’s warning of a strong response to it have also started affecting the world economy. This has raised concerns that oil supplies and sea routes, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, could be at risk.

Diplomatic initiatives have also intensified at the international level. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez urged China to play a more active role as a global negotiator. After his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, he said China could play a decisive role in resolving conflicts like Iran and Ukraine.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz also backed Israeli-Lebanon direct talks and called for an end to hostilities in southern Lebanon. At the same time, he stressed the need for the US-Iran diplomatic consensus.

China has put forward a four-point resolution for long-term peace in the Middle East, which prioritizes respect for sovereignty, adherence to international law and peaceful coexistence.

With the increase in diplomatic efforts, there is also an impact on the world market. Oil prices fell on expectations of U.S.-Iran talks moving forward, while Asian stock markets rose.
