Parliament should know what the Prime Minister is busy in, demands to inform the House about the detention of former Chief Justice

KATHMANDU: Leader of the main opposition party, Bhishma Raj Angdembe, has said that the six months of the incumbent government have not been as fruitful as per the people’s expectations.

Taking time in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, leader Angdembe claimed that getting nearly two-thirds majority in the election was a special opportunity, but the work was not done according to it. He complained that although the contents of Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s address to the 81st General Assembly of the United Nations were correct in themselves, the parliament was not informed about it before and after the visit.

“Parliament is an exercise and school of democracy. It is not an institution that works in favour of the Prime Minister, it is necessary for the Prime Minister to be present in the House when questions come from the opposition and the ruling party. But the parliament should know what the Prime Minister is busy with without coming to the House,” Angdembe said.

He added, “We have to keep in mind what we are trying to teach the new generation about parliamentary practice and democracy. Parliament cannot be a place where people come when they like and when they don’t. This is a common place between the ruling party and the opposition, where questions and answers are held about the problems and solutions of the people. Running away from questions will prove to be weak. ”

Urging the government to uphold the rule of law and rule of law by strengthening parliamentary democracy and institutional structure, he demanded that the House be informed about the detention of the former Chief Justice.

Accusing the government of not demonstrating efficiency in disaster management, rescue, relief and reconstruction, and black marketeering not being controlled during the approaching festivals, he expressed regret that the suggestions suggestions given to the government on the basis of consultation with the top leaders of the national party have not been heeded.

Leader Angdembe urged the government to implement the report related to the incidents of September 23 and 24, free the civil administration from political interference and maintain the national interest in foreign policy. He stressed the need to make the provincial and local governments partners in every task of governance and develop a culture of cooperation among the political parties on national issues.
