Nepal Rastra Bank sets limit for exchange of new banknotes for Dashain

Kathmandu. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has decided not to set any limit on the distribution of new notes for Dashain. This time, the central bank has decided to provide such services as a regular work without distributing new notes by fixing a date.

Sudha Shrestha, joint spokesperson of the central bank, said that the central bank will not issue a formal notice for the exchange of new and retail notes this time. She said that the practice of fixing the date for the exchange of new and retail notes during Dashain has been removed. However, she said that there is a provision for those who want to buy new notes by going to the bank to buy new notes.

She said that the central bank has enough new notes and will provide exchange facilities as per the demand. She said that the central bank has a plan to distribute new notes by the time the new ones arrive and if they do not reach them, then the central bank is planning to distribute dry notes.

This time, due to natural calamities, Dashain is not a festival for many people, but it is not going to issue new notes by issuing the same notice as in the past.

According to him, those who go to the Nepal Rastra Bank to exchange notes can exchange up to two bundles. One bundle contains 100 pieces of notes of 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 denominations.

According to Dahal, the central bank has been providing the facility of exchanging new notes for business purposes and not for personal purposes.
