Development and investment environment to be created through legal reforms: Minister Lamsal

KATHMANDU: Minister for Infrastructure Development Sunil Lamsal has said that the government is working to create an environment conducive for development and investment through reforms in the existing laws.

At a seminar on ‘Legal reforms for investment and development related to Nepal Infrastructure Conference-2026’ organized by the Ministry here today, Minister Khatiwada said the problems seen in investment and development would be addressed legally.

He said that the government was focused on making citizen-friendly laws, saying that the state system would be run according to the law and the results would also be visible. Minister Lamsal said that the nation would be formed as the Act is the mirror of the country. He believes that this seminar will play an important role in the necessary reforms to make the country’s infrastructure more dynamic and effective.

Minister Lamsal said, “Our laws are the same now, our society is also like that. If you look at the current Urban Act, the city also looks the same. Now the education act is like it, the schools are also according to it. The way the act is made, the result is also according to that.” ”

Minister Lamsal said that the government was trying to amend the laws accordingly and said that they should study the draft prepared in letter and spirit and think about how to make the laws better.

Minister Lamsal said, “We were passing the Procurement Act, at that time the Builders’ Association brought a suggestion. But we did not accept that suggestion, because their suggestion did not allow there to be a ‘policy departure’. We tried to give them a lot of things. It seemed that they did not want to take it. The government wanted a special ‘public-centric policy departure’. ”
