Kathmandu. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed on five high impact community development projects to be implemented in Nepal with grant assistance from the Government of India in the education and health sector.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, the project implementing agencies of the federal government and the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu today. The total estimated cost of these projects is Rs 390 million, according to the Indian Embassy.
The five projects include the construction of Janshakti Secondary School building at Bateshwor-3 in Bateshwor rural municipality of Dhanusha, Mahovani Padma Secondary School in Pokharia municipality of Parsa, Vasuki Secondary School in Mellekh rural municipality of Achham, building of Benga Sah Secondary School in Prasauni rural municipality-2 of Bara, girls’ hostel and library and five-bed hospital building in Nason rural municipality-5 of Manang.
These projects will be implemented through local bodies and institutions of the federal government, including municipalities and rural municipalities. The construction of these structures will help in providing quality education and health facilities to the Nepali people.
Since 2003, the Government of India has initiated 579 high impact community development projects in Nepal, including five projects signed today. Of these, 496 projects have been completed in the health, education, drinking water, connectivity, sanitation sectors and construction of public utility goods across all seven provinces of Nepal. The rest of the projects are under construction in different phases.
