Sovereign credit rating homework begins

Kathmandu. Nepal has started the homework of this year’s sovereign credit rating.

In a meeting held at the Ministry of Finance today to prepare for the credit rating, it was decided to prepare well and present the achievements made by Nepal in a systematic manner.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel directed the officials concerned to make preparations to send a message that Nepal has made remarkable progress in the last one year.

The meeting discussed the reforms in the field of economy, policy and legal sector and good governance as well as giving priority to the achievements made in political stability, roads, tourism and hydropower.

National Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Prof. Dr. Dr. Shivraj Adhikari, Member. Prakash Kumar Shrestha, Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank; Finance Secretary Ghanashyam Upadhyay, Revenue Secretary Dinesh Kumar Ghimire, among others, are in charge of the meeting.

Mahesh Bhattarai, chief of the Economic Policy Analysis Division at the Ministry of Finance, presented the preparations made so far regarding credit rating.

International agency Fitch ratings Nepal. Fitch’s team is scheduled to visit Nepal to understand the situation for the credit rating. Last year, Nepal got BB minus in fitch’s sovereign credit rating.
