Myagdi. MYAGDI: The public transport service on Myagdi roads has adjusted its fares. An all-party meeting held at Beni on Thursday under the aegis of the District Administration Office (DAO) decided to fix and adjust the public transport fares on temporary routes. Chief District Officer Badri Prasad Tiwari said that the fare rate adjustment has been fixed for the upgraded roads and the fare rate of newly constructed roads has been fixed.
The bus fare has been increased to Rs 10 per kilometer and jeep fare will be Rs 15 per kilometer on the Beni-Darwang and Beni-Ratnechaur road section. Of the 33 kilometres of the Beni-Jomsom road, 26 kilometres have been blacktopped.
The 18-km Beni-Tolawang section of the 24-km Beni-Darwang road has been blacktopped. As per the new fare, the bus fare will be Rs 240, Rs 360 for jeep and Rs 408 for taxi along the Beni-Darbang road.
In other roads of Myagdi, the bus fare has been fixed at Rs 18 per kilometer and the jeep fare has been fixed at Rs 25. Similarly, taxis will be charged Rs 17 per kilometre and Rs 30 per kilometre on unpaved roads.
Likewise, the bus fare has been fixed at Rs 14 per kilometre and jeep fare has been fixed at Rs 18 per kilometre on the paved and slope roads of the municipality and rural municipalities.
The District Administration Office Myagdi had formed a task force led by Assistant Chief District Officer Anisha Acharya to study the fare adjustment after complaints from the general public that the public had to pay the same fare as dirt road even after the road was upgraded.
A meeting of the people’s representatives, Transport Management Office and transport entrepreneurs determined and adjusted the transport fare based on the recommendations of the taskforce and local level. CDO Tiwari said that all the local levels would stick the fixed fare at the places visible to the vehicles and passengers and the administration and security bodies would carry out regular monitoring.
