Kathmandu. The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has started reconstructing the traffic control room at Singha Durbar Baggi Khana, which was destroyed during the Genji agitation on September 7 and 24.
A team headed by Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) vice-president and Disaster Management Committee coordinator Manoj Kumar Shrestha ‘Gorkhali’ started the reconstruction work from Saturday.
The team held discussions with Nepal Police’s AIG Dan Bahadur Karki, DIG Om Rana, Traffic Police Chief SSP Nawaraj Adhikari, DSP Amrendra Prasad Singh and other senior police officials.
According to Manoj Gorkhali, coordinator of the central traffic control room, the technical reconstruction of the buggy food complex is estimated to cost around Rs 10 million.
According to NRNA President Mahesh Kumar Shrestha, the NRNA will bear all the expenses of reconstruction of the traffic control room.
Stating that Vice-Chairperson Gorkhali has been given the responsibility to coordinate with the traffic police, he urged the NRNA cadres in Kathmandu to be involved in social works.
On the first day, NRNA former President Binod Kunwar, advisor Umesh Pudasaini, Women Coordinator and Disaster Co-Coordinator Rashmi Thapa, Youth Coordinator Bhimsen Thapa, Member Secretary Dharma Raj Giri, former Vice President of NCC Qatar Uttam Gurung, Youth Entrepreneur Committee Chairman and social worker Narayan Bhandari, members Pradip Khanal, Manish Upreti, Nirajan Khatri and others were present.
On the first day, work has begun on the construction of the necessary infrastructure. It is expected that traffic management across the country would be more effective, modern and scientific after the Baggi Food Traffic Control Room would be reconstructed with modern infrastructures.
