Myagdi. As many as 440 households have been benefited from two projects constructed in Dhawalagiri rural municipality this year.
A total of 323 households in Machhim, Shivang and Hilapokhari of Dhaulagiri rural municipality-7 and 117 houses in Ramche, Marangbesi and Kumri of ward no 6 have got drinking water facility.
Chief of the technical section of the rural municipality, Lokendra Rawal, said that Rs 23.2 million was spent on both the projects constructed through contract. Metered taps have been installed to distribute drinking water to all the households in six toles of the two wards affected by the project. Arrangements have been made to supply clean and hygienic drinking water to every household by constructing water sources, tanks, main and branch pipelines.
Lal KC of Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality-6 said that the availability of drinking water in every household has saved time for the locals. Prior to this, they used to consume drinking water from public taps.
Water has been brought from the source of the Machhim, Shivang and Hilapokhari drinking water projects. A total of Rs 1,36,34,311 has been spent on this project.
The contract agreement was signed for the fiscal year 2078/79 at the cost of Rs 11.34 million and Rs 107,52,212 was paid for the drinking water project in Marang that was completed this year. Drinking water has already been distributed through the Marang Drinking Water Project.
Although the conservation test of Machhim, Shivang and Hilapokhari drinking water projects has been successful, it has not been used. Ashok Khatri, chairperson of Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality-7, said that the project would be implemented after the rainy season by forming a users’ committee.
