Kathmandu. A delegation of Non-Resident Nepalis Association (NRNA) held a meeting with interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki, Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Kulman Ghising today.
The meeting was held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar on Thursday. On the occasion, NRNA President Mahesh Kumar Shrestha said that the NRNA was working to reconstruct the control room of the traffic police that was damaged during the demonstration and discussions were underway to do more.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Karki said that NRNs have an important role in the development of the country and urged the Nepalis around the world to help in the reconstruction of Nepal in the present difficult situation. She also said that the government of Nepal was ready to cooperate with the association.
Similarly, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Kul Man Ghising said that the government and private structures were destroyed during the agitation called by Gen G on September 23-24 and urged the NRNA to provide support for the same. Chairman Shrestha said that the next meeting of the working committee would take a decision on this matter.
NRNA former President and coordinator of the high-level committee, Dr. Shesh Ghale pledged that the MIT Foundation under his leadership was ready to provide support to the government if any project required by the government.
NRNA former President Kul Acharya urged the government to implement the NRN citizenship (NRN) and mobilize the social security fund for the development of the country. He said that NRNs around the world were saddened by the recent loss of lives and property in Nepal and were ready to join hands in the reconstruction.
Similarly, former President of NRNA RK Sharma raised the issues of Non-Resident Nepali Citizenship, Social Security Fund and collective investment to convert remittances into savings. He also urged the government to address the problems of working Nepalis.
On the occasion, the NRNA leaders urged the NRNA leaders to ensure the safety of the private property and investment of NRNs in Nepal. NRNA high-level committee member-secretaries Rabina Thapa and Janaki Gurung, her spouse Jamuna Ghale and UNDO chairperson Sonam Lama were also present in the meeting.
