Chitwan. Ashok Lamichhane, proprietor of Lamichhane Electricity Shop at Lions Chowk in Narayangadh, said that the sale of flickering electric appliances has dropped by half compared to last year. According to him, business has decreased due to the slowdown in house construction in recent times.

Lamichhane said, “Last year, there was a lot of business at this time, but this year it has not happened. New houses have not been built, but old houses have started to be used from the previous years. ’

According to him, more than half of the fringes imported from India were damaged in the second year, but in recent years, only 10 percent of the fringes imported from China are damaged while using them in the second year.

Bishnu Prasad Chalise, president of the Electricity Entrepreneurs Association, Chitwan, said that there was not enough demand in the market and there was no enthusiasm as before.

The decorations required for Tihar in Nepal come from India and China. Among them, goods coming from Tatopani and Kerung customs have been stopped and electronic flags have also stopped being sold, Chalise said. “We expect that the trade will decrease by 50 percent this year compared to last year. Last year, the district had a business of around Rs 100 million, but this year it is estimated that the number of businesses will be Rs 5 to 6 crore. With the decrease in trade, the workers have to be cut and the technicians working in the electricity sector will not be able to work,” he said.

Chitwan is one of the leading districts for the sale of electronic goods. After Kathmandu and Pokhara, Chitwan has the highest sales of Jhalar. There are 244 entrepreneurs affiliated to the district association. He said that 143 entrepreneurs of the Electricity Entrepreneurs’ Association in East Chitwan have also complained that they have not been able to do business. He said that the Jenji movement that took place before Dashain had an impact on the business.

Tej Narayan Kharel, former central president of the Federation of Electricity Entrepreneurs, said that there was no business as much as it was 10 years ago. According to him, the import of goods worth more than Rs 400 million from abroad was 10 years ago.
