Birgunj. In the first three months of the current fiscal year, petroleum products worth Rs 38.09 billion were imported through Birgunj border point. Imports of diesel, petrol, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), aviation turbine fuel (ATF) and kerosene have collected Rs 16.12 billion in revenue in the review period.
According to the Birgunj Customs Office, the import of five types of petroleum products decreased by Rs one billion compared to the corresponding period of the last fiscal year.
In the first three months of the last fiscal year, the government collected Rs 16.07 billion from the import of petroleum products worth Rs 39.15 billion. Bishnu Prasad Gyawali, chief customs administrator at the Customs Office, said that the import of petroleum products decreased in the first three months of the current fiscal year.
Birgunj Customs Office has imported 174,924 kilolitres of diesel worth Rs 15.72 billion till mid-October of the current fiscal year. Revenue of Rs 6.96 billion was collected from the import of diesel.
A total of 125,380 kilolitres of petrol worth Rs 10.72 billion was imported in the first three months of the current fiscal year. Revenue of Rs 7.09 billion has been collected from the import of petrol. Nepal imported 73.97 million LP gas worth Rs 7.49 billion in the first three months of the current fiscal year.
