Kathmandu. The government has decided to conduct a judicial inquiry into the loss of life and property during Monday’s protest organized by Genji youth.
The meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar today decided to conduct a judicial investigation into the incident, said Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung.
Expressing condolences to the families of those killed in Monday’s protest, the meeting also decided to provide appropriate relief and compensation and make arrangements for free medical treatment to the injured.
Gurung, who is also the government spokesperson, said that a judicial probe committee would be formed to identify the anarchists and interest groups involved in infiltration and unruly activities causing damage to human and public property with the objective of fulfilling the peaceful demonstration of Genji youths. The government has also called on the Genji youths to suspend their demonstrations and other protests and help in maintaining peace and security.
He said that the meeting concluded that Monday’s demonstration was infiltration and concluded that the guilty would be brought to book after conducting a proper investigation. Stating that the peaceful demonstration was infiltrated into anarchic and regressive acts, Minister Gurung said the government expressed sorrow over the loss of life and property in Monday’s incident.
Similarly, the government has given the responsibility to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to arrange the necessary process for the operation of the social networks that have been deactivated. Minister Gurung informed that the social networks which were defunct have been resumed.
He said that the social media has come into operation immediately after the decision of the Council of Ministers. A total of 26 unlisted social networking sites across the country have been deactivated since September 3.
Stating that discussions were held time and again for the last one and half years for the listing of social networks, Gurung said that although the government had urged them to reject it, the decision was made to make it inactive due to compulsion.
