Guarantee of security is necessary to boost self-confidence of tourism sector: CEO Joshi

Kathmandu. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) Deepak Raj Joshi has said that it is necessary to ensure security to boost the confidence of the tourism sector.

Addressing the 35th special general meeting of Nepal Tourism Association (NTA) here today, CEO Joshi said that the tourism sector had suffered a big loss during the Genji agitation on September 7 and 24.

He said, “Nepal’s tourism sector has also suffered losses during the Genji movement. For this, we need to ensure security to the tourism sector. CEO Joshi said that the private sector and government bodies should work together to revive the tourism sector.

During the period of the Jenji agitation, the average daily tourist arrivals dropped to 1,600 and the number has been increasing in recent times, he said.

He said, “After September 8 and 9, the number of tourists who came down to 1600 has again reached the daily average of 4,200.” The Tourism Board is working to send the message that our visit to Nepal is safe and that everything has returned to normal. ’

Stating that the country was going through some crisis every 10 years, Joshi said that there was a need of a permanent structure to work even in the time of crisis.
