Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The 24th annual general meeting and eighth convention of the Independent Power Producers’ Association of Nepal (IPPAN) has elected 25 new working committees under the leadership of Mohan Dangi.

The convention elected 25 working committees out of the 27 members under the leadership of Dangi on unanimous basis except the treasurer. Uttam Blon Lama has been elected the senior vice-president while Uttar Kumar Shrestha, Narendra Ballav Panta, Bikram Bista, Susan Karmacharya and Him Prasad Pathak have been elected the vice-presidents.

As per the new statute, Balram Khatiwada and Prakash Chandra Dulal have been added as the vice-presidents. Likewise, TN Acharya has been elected the general secretary, Kabita Pokharel the deputy general secretary and Abhidnya Malla, Isha Shrestha, Kubermani Nepal, Bijay Mohan Bhattarai and Suman Kumari Joshi the secretaries. As per the new statute, Krishna Ghimire and Dipak Poudel have been inducted as secretaries.

Similarly, Shankar Basyal has been elected the Treasurer while Anup Acharya, Kadam KC, Jagadish Shiwakoti, Jagat Bahadur Pokharel, Jyoti Gaire, Narayan Kandel, Pratima Gyawali, Milan Khadka, Sangita Dhamala and Barban Lamichhane have been elected as executive members. Indira Panta, Narayan Khanal, Baburam Thapa, Santosh Nepal and Somnath Kandel have been proposed as permanent invitee members after the amendment statute was approved by the District Administration Office.

Immediate past president of IPPAN Ganesh Karki said that an agreement has been reached to nominate two vice-chairpersons, two secretaries and five permanent invitee members on the basis of consensus by amending the new statute.

The IPPAN has amended the IPPAN statute 2078 BS to allow for holding elections to all the posts. Similarly, the party has amended the statute to increase the number of vice-chairpersons to 7, 5 secretaries to 7 and to nominate five permanent invitees. This statute will come into full effect after approval from the District Administration Office. IPPAN Chair Karki said that the statute has been amended and passed in a way to develop IPPAN as a place for more inclusive and democratic practice. As per the amended statute, one should not be affiliated to any political party to become the chairman and senior vice-chairperson of IPPAN.
