Kathmandu. The peace deal between the United States and Iran and the announcement of an agreement to end military action on all fronts is seen by the world community as a potential opportunity to stabilize the Middle East.
The United Nations, Europe, the Gulf region and the Asia-Pacific countries welcomed the agreement and stressed on its successful implementation.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres described the agreement as an important step towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict. Considering the basis of long-term peace as the dialogue and diplomatic means, he urged all sides to move towards the full implementation of the agreement.
French President Emmanuel Macron called for the “immediate and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz”. He said France and the United Kingdom were ready to cooperate in the implementation of the agreement and would support efforts to restore state sovereignty in Lebanon. At the same time, concerns related to Iran’s nuclear and ballistic programs need to be addressed, he said.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has called for safe and free navigation to be restored in the Strait of Hormuz. He reaffirmed Britain’s long-standing position that Iran should never develop a nuclear weapon.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry expressed its full support for all diplomatic efforts aimed at strengthening regional security and stability. Qatar said it should continue its efforts to find a lasting solution through dialogue and mediation.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged all parties to exercise restraint until the agreement is officially signed. “We need to remain vigilant against statements that escalate tensions, provocative activities and possible sabotage attempts,” he said.
Japanese Prime Minister Sane Takaichi expressed hope that safe and free navigation would be ensured through the Strait of Hormuz. He also said that Iran’s nuclear program and other contentious issues should be reached soon.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Foreign Minister Penny Wong called on both the US and Iran to continue restraint and constructive dialogue. In a joint statement, they said that international security concerns related to Iran’s nuclear program must be addressed.
New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Luxon said the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz would help stabilise global trade routes, ease fuel supplies and boost the global economy.
The response of world leaders clearly reflects not only the end of war in the Middle East, but also a shared concern for energy security, international trade, and regional stability.
