Rs 25 crore for Tarigaon airport

Tulsipur. A budget of Rs 250 million has been allocated for the construction of Tarigaun Airport in Tulsipur, Dang. Rs 25 crore has been included in the annual budget of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.

Kamal TAG_OPEN_div_10 Subedi, lawmaker of the House of Representatives from Dang constituency-3, said that the budget has been allocated for the expansion of the runway up to 2,500 meters and for the management of other infrastructures. According to him, the airport will be upgraded by making a multi-year plan.

“In the past, there was no big budget for the airport. As a result, the airport could not be expanded. At present, large aircraft have not been able to accommodate the airport as it is only 750 meters of the paddy road. Currently, only 19-seater Twin Otters can land here. Though it was said to operate flights four days a week, it has not been regular,” Subedi said. According to him, initiatives have been taken for budget management so that the passengers can get easy service from the local level.

Representatives of the concerned bodies in the sector had been taking the initiative time and again saying that if the runway was expanded, big aircraft would be able to accommodate and operate regular flights.TAG_OPEN_div_6 Passengers from this area go to Nepalgunj or Bhairahawa due to lack of regular flights to Tarigaun. Tarigaon Airport was established in 2011 BS.
