Kathmandu. More than Rs 1.91 billion has been collected in the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund in a span of 36 hours. According to the information received by the Ministry of Finance, the amount was deposited in the fund from Wednesday afternoon to 12 midnight on Thursday.

Donors have deposited Rs 1.91 billion in the accounts of 10 different commercial banks in a span of 36 hours. On Wednesday morning, the government held a cabinet meeting and declared the affected areas as crisis zones after the massive floods in the Bhotekoshi river, which flows through the Nepal-China border, caused huge loss of life. After that, the help of well-wishers and organizations started accumulating in the relief fund.

The government has designated the Ministry of Finance as the focal ministry for depositing funds in the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund and coordinating it. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle is accepting the amount of donors who contribute one crore rupees or more to the institutional sector.

Similarly, the donors can provide cash assistance on the individual side by coming to the ministry. With this, the savings amount in the fund has reached 4 billion 9 crore 11 lakh 60 thousand. Earlier, there was a saving of Rs 2 billion 17 crore 25 lakh 9 thousand 759 in the fund. In a span of 6 hours on Thursday, the ministry had received 27.33 crore rupees from the private sector donors of Nepal. This assistance does not include the amount announced by various friendly countries.
