{{TAG_OPEN_p_22}Kathmandu. Although rescue, search and relief operations are intensifying after the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa district on Wednesday morning, the management of the bodies of those killed in the floods has become a big challenge.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), 511 of the 579 bodies collected from different places till Friday evening have been kept in various hospitals and health institutions. The floods have caused extensive damage in the lower coastal areas including Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading, while the bodies swept away by the river are being found in different districts.TAG_OPEN_p_21

According to the NRA, the three bodies found in Rasuwa have been kept at the District Hospital, Dhunche. The 27 bodies collected in Dhading have been kept in hospitals in Pokhara and 10 at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. The 38 bodies found in Nuwakot have also been kept at the Teaching Hospital.TAG_OPEN_p_20

The highest number of dead bodies have been found in Chitwan. Among them, 171 bodies have been kept at the District Hospital, Bharatpur, four at the National City Hospital, two at Bharatpur Community Hospital, two at Narayani Hospital and 41 at the Industrial Commercial Development Academy.TAG_OPEN_p_19

A large number of dead bodies have also been found in Tanahun, Gorkha, Nawalparasi (east and west) districts. These bodies have been kept safely in hospitals and health institutions of the respective districts, according to the NRA.TAG_OPEN_p_18

{{TAG_OPEN_p_17} Officials have said that the process of finding dead bodies on the river banks and downstream areas has not stopped after the floods, which is causing difficulties in the collection, identification and management of the bodies. Security agencies, health workers and local administration are continuously working to identify the dead bodies, take them to their relatives and manage them.

TAG_OPEN_p_16 The authority has said that the number of bodies may increase further as search and rescue operations are still going on in various places. It has also said that the bodies found are being collected and taken to the appropriate hospital and necessary procedures are being completed.
