Kathmandu. Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has arranged free transportation for passengers stranded in flood-hit areas by land route.

On the first day of the service, 19 people, including two children, nine women and eight men, were brought to Kathmandu, said Nabin Manandhar, spokesperson of the metropolis. Two vehicles have been arranged since Saturday. One of the two vehicles was earlier used to transport passengers from Rasuwa to Kathmandu. It has a capacity of 19 seats. The other vehicle was provided by Chhatrapati Free Hospital at the request of the metropolis. It can accommodate 10 passengers.

Banners have been placed on the front and back of the vehicles to identify the vehicles operated free of cost. Both the vehicles have been equipped with city police. Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol, Chief Administrative Officer Mukti Ram Aryal, Spokesperson Manandhar, Disaster Management Committee Coordinator Prem Thapa and others participated in the assembly hall to encourage the human resources mobilized in the vehicles.

This service has been started targeting people who want to come to Kathmandu from different parts of the country in connection with work in flood-affected areas including Rasuwa, Nuwakot and those who want to come to Kathmandu in search of their relatives in the affected areas. These vehicles will carry passengers twice a day.

Four hearse operations

Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has mobilized four mortuary vehicles in the flood-hit areas of Rasuwa Bhotekoshi. According to Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol, the metropolis has also arranged four mortuary vehicles to help as much as possible by urging all to work together in disaster management.

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) on Saturday brought five dead bodies out of four mortuary vehicles sent to Nuwakot. The bodies of four men and one woman have been brought back from the Trishuli Military Training Center. The bodies will be handed over to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. The metropolis has mobilized the hearse in coordination with Suryabinayak Municipality, Chhatrapati Free Hospital, Manmohan Memorial College and Teaching Hospital and Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital.
