Kathmandu. The barrier lake formed by landslides on the Nepal-China border area is spread over an area equal to 14 standard football grounds, according to Chinese television.

According to the Chinese state television CGTN, the monitoring data as of August 29 shows that the barrier lake created by the landslide is now under control. According to monitoring data from the Chinese Aning Group, the lake covers an area of about 100,000 square meters.

Chinese television claims that the area of 100,000 square meters is equivalent to 14 standard football fields. Similarly, another Barrier Lake-02 has also been identified in the area about 5 kilometers above Barrier Lake-01.TAG_OPEN_div_8

These types of lakes are formed when the flow of the river is blocked due to landslides. As the amount of water in such lakes increases, it can pose a risk to the lower riparian areas, so its condition should be monitored continuously.
