747 tourists go missing in Rasuwa floods, 299 rescued

Kathmandu. A total of 747 tourists have gone missing due to the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa. According to the Tourist Police, 583 foreigners and 164 Nepali tourists have gone missing till 6:30 pm on Monday.

Among the missing foreigners, 183 are Indians, 64 Americans, 55 Malaysians, 54 Ukrainians and 35 Australians. Citizens of Canada, Latvia, China, Britain and Germany are also out of contact.TAG_OPEN_div_10

Security personnel and rescue teams have rescued 299 tourists trapped in the floods. Among those rescued, 251 are men and 48 women. Five more tourists have come into contact.TAG_OPEN_div_8

The search operation has been intensified in coordination with the tourist police, security personnel and various trekking agencies for the search and rescue of the missing tourists. Police said that search and rescue operations are underway in the flood-affected areas.
