Kathmandu. The devastating flood in Bhotekoshi of Rasuwa district on August 26 has damaged two branches of the development bank.
The floods, which have caused a lot of loss of life and property, have also had a big impact on the banking and financial sectors. The banking sector has suffered physical and human losses.
One of the 2 employees of Muktinath Bikas Bank, who went on a visit to Gosaikunda from Kathmandu due to the floods, has been found dead and one is still missing. Similarly, an employee of Lumbini Bikas Bank is out of contact.
According to Manjila Dangol, chief executive officer (CEO) of Nepal Development Bankers’ Association, the branches of various development banks have been badly damaged due to natural disasters.
According to him, the Trishuli branch of Jyoti Bikas Bank has been completely damaged. Similarly, the Devghat and Kalika branches of Lumbini Bikas Bank have also been damaged.
The floods have also affected the bank’s branches, physical infrastructure, and employees. There is also a problem in the operation of banking services in the affected areas.
Dangol said that coordination is being made with the concerned authorities for the search and rescue of the employees who are incommunicado due to the disaster. She said that more details of the damage are being collected and information about the condition of the affected bank branches will be received gradually.
