Kathmandu. Insurance claims worth about Rs 26 billion are expected for the damage caused by the floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers. According to the preliminary information received by the Nepal Insurance Authority till August 30, the total estimated claim amount of 583 insured persons affected by the floods is more than Rs 25.87 billion.
According to the authority, The Oriental Insurance Company has the biggest claim on the damage caused by the floods. It is estimated that the initial claim of Rs 13.04 billion in Oriental alone will be Rs 13.04 billion.
After this, United Ajod Insurance will claim Rs 4.97 billion and Sanima GIC Insurance will claim Rs 2.10 billion.
Similarly, Siddhartha Premier Insurance has a claim of Rs 1.88 billion and Shikhar Insurance has a claim of Rs 1.87 billion.
Similarly, Himalayan Everest Insurance has claimed Rs 647.8 million, Neco Insurance Rs 517 million, Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance Rs 24.23 crore and Nepal Insurance Rs 23.86 crore.
Likewise, IGI Prudential Insurance has a claim of Rs 18.73 crore, NLG Insurance Rs 11.31 crore and Prabhu Insurance Rs 3.12 crore.
According to the preliminary details, National Insurance Company has to claim Rs 7.6 million, National Insurance Rs 53.35 lakh and Nepal Micro Insurance Rs 500,000.
Largest claims in engineering and contract risk insurance
Engineering and contract risk insurance has the largest claim on flood damage. According to the preliminary estimate of the authority, the claim will be worth Rs 20.50 billion under this heading.
Similarly, the claim for property insurance is Rs 2.34 billion and Rs 1.55 billion for motor insurance.
The claim for transport insurance is Rs 89.77 crore and for various other types of insurance, it will be Rs 52.92 crore. For health insurance, the initial claim will be Rs 4.16 crore, according to the authority.
As the details received at the NRA are preliminary, the actual claim amount may be changed once the detailed assessment of the damage and claim settlement proceeds.
