Nuwakot. The family of 64-year-old Chandika Shrestha, who went missing after the massive flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa, had made the body of Kush and cremated her. However, on the 11th day of the flood, she was rescued alive from the buried house in Betrawati of Nuwakot.

Chandika was incommunicado after the flood swept away her house. After there was no trace of her for eight days, the family concluded that she was not alive and started the last rites and cremation of Kush.

The rescue team found Chandika alive while searching inside the flooded house of Ananda Shrestha in Betrawati.

Spokesperson of the Armed Police Force (APF) Netra Bahadur Karki said that the rescuers rescued Chandika alive from the buried house.

Chandika, who had even performed the rituals thinking she was dead, was found alive with surprise and happiness among the family and the locals. Her rescue has brought unexpected happiness to the family that was in mourning till a few days ago.

After the rescue, Chandika has been sent to the hospital for health check-up and treatment. Search and rescue operations are underway with the help of Armed Police Force, Nepal Police and locals.
