Tanahun. Seven suspension bridges and one bailey bridge have been damaged due to floods and landslides caused by incessant rains. Similarly, the Bhimad-Rampur road section has been affected.
A team of the District Security Committee had inspected the damaged structures on Wednesday to take stock of the damage caused by floods and landslides in different parts of the rural municipality. A team led by Chief District Officer Shivalal Tiwari led by Chief District Officer Shivalal Tiwari, Chief of District Police Office, Tanahun Superintendent of Police Tek Bahadur Karki, Chairman of Ghiring Rural Municipality Hom Bahadur Thapa and others inspected the damaged structures.
Floods and landslides have caused damage to bridges and roads, causing problems in the movement of the locals. The damage to the suspension bridge, especially, has affected the communication between the various settlements of the village. The damage to the bailey bridge and the road has added to the challenges in the operation of transportation. The team made an on-site inspection of the damaged structures and inquired about the necessary coordination for immediate management and reconstruction.
Survey of flood-damaged Ghiring-Dedhgaon bridge
An on-site inspection and measurement of the bridge connecting Ghiring Rural Municipality and Baudikali Rural Municipality-Dedhgaun of Nawalpur has been carried out. Traffic services on the Kaligandaki route have been completely disrupted after the flood in the Kaligandaki River swept away the approach road of the bridge. Locals have been facing problems in their movement after the bridge was damaged.
A technical team from the Department of Roads, Damauli, in coordination with Ghiring Rural Municipality, inspected and inspected the damaged bridge. According to the rural municipality, the technical team collected necessary details about the condition of the bridge in the presence of security personnel and local people’s representatives.
Vice-chairperson of Ghiring rural municipality, Radhadevi Adhikari, expressed the belief that works on alternative arrangement and bridge reconstruction would move ahead with the completion of survey.
