Kathmandu. The government has established the Nepal Accreditation Center for Industrial Development and Trade Facilitation of Nepal. Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Engineer Deepak Kumar Sah inaugurated the center in Tripureshwor amidst a program today.
He expressed his confidence that the operation of the centre would prove to be a milestone to reduce the cost of industries, increase consumers’ confidence and connect Nepali products to the world market.
The center has been established with the objective of making Nepali industry competitive, increasing the guarantee of quality and safe goods and services to the consumers and establishing Nepali products in the international market.
According to the ministry, with the operation of the center, the basis has been prepared for laboratories, medical labs, inspection and certification institutions to get accreditation services in Nepal. This will help in reducing the time and cost of testing and certification of industrialists and entrepreneurs, improving the quality and reducing dependence on foreign agencies.
It is also expected that the establishment of the centre would contribute positively to the health, security and well-being of the general consumers as the credibility of the institutions that check the quality of foodstuffs, medical products, construction materials, electrical equipment and other goods would be enhanced.
“The Centre will play an important role in developing a system of international accreditation and mutual recognition to facilitate Nepal’s export trade. This will also help to increase international confidence in the quality of Nepali products and reduce the cost and procedural hassles of exporters,” the ministry said in a statement.
The Centre has been established with the realization that citizens should get safe goods, industrialists should be free from unnecessary expenses and hassles and Nepali products should earn a respectable place in the world market.
