Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate Sasmit Pokharel has been elected to the House of Representatives from Kathmandu constituency-5. He garnered 30,737 votes to win the House of Representatives election held on Thursday.

Pokharel’s nearest rival Pradip Poudel of Nepali Congress got 9,159 votes. According to the Office of the Returning Officer, Ishwor Pokharel of CPN-UML secured 4,701 votes in the election.

Rastriya Prajatantra Party’s Kamal Thapa got 1,729 votes, Ujjyalo Nepal Party’s Shree Ram Gurung got 1,100 votes and Labor Culture Party’s Amit Thapa got 711 votes. A total of 25 candidates including various political parties and independent candidates were contesting in the constituency.
