Kathmandu. Khalti users can also participate in the taxpayer incentive gift program, 2083 launched by the Inland Revenue Department under the Ministry of Finance.

According to Khalti, the eligible digital payment users through Khalti will be automatically joined in the daily and fortnightly gift selection as a part of the program.

Every day, one winner will receive a cash prize after deducting the tax. Rs. 100,000 and one bumper winner every 15 days will receive Rs. 100,000. They will get Rs 10 lakh. The details of eligible transactions made through Khalti will be automatically sent to the Inland Revenue Department’s platform through a secure system.

Gift coupons will also be generated automatically for the participating users and those coupons can be viewed through the Khalti app. The department will select the winner on the 1st and 16th of every month through an automated system. The selected winners will be informed via mobile phone and email. The company will also inform the users who have participated through Khalti through various means.

With this initiative of the government, Khalti aims to expand the practice of invoice based transactions and increase consumer trust in digital payments. According to the company, this is expected to facilitate the documentation of transactions and also contribute to the strengthening of the formal economy and the national revenue system.

After the merger of IME Pay and Khalti, the company has been providing digital payments, merchant QR code, bill payments, ticketing, remittance and various other financial services. According to the company, there are more than 1.27 crore registered users in Khalti.
