Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has urged the government and industrialists to sit for dialogue. The union has called for a settlement in the talks to find a solution to the dedicated and trunk-line disputes.
“The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has expressed serious concern over the situation between industrialists and Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) over the issue of dedicated and trunk line electricity tariffs. The Confederation had suggested the then government to form a high-level commission to resolve the disputes related to dedicated and trunk lines that had been raging for years. The association said.
Likewise, an inquiry commission was formed under the chairmanship of former Supreme Court Justice Girish Chandra Lal to resolve the dispute over the electricity tariff of dedicated feeder and trunk line based on suggestions from the private sector. The Commission has already submitted its report to the government and the government has also made it public.
The association has said that the dispute has not been resolved for a long time and it is sending a bad message at the national and international level. The association claims that this will have an impact on the investment climate. According to the association, the country’s economy is in a challenging situation and the manufacturing industries are operating by producing goods in low capacity, while the NEA has cut off the power line in some industries and the workers working in the industries have also been affected.
