Kathmandu. The government is set to unveil its policies and programmes for the upcoming fiscal year on Monday.
The government has sought suggestions only 3 days before the announcement of the policies and programs to be brought before the budget for the coming fiscal year. The government has launched a suggestion collection portal to seek suggestions from the public at the last moment of unveiling the policies and programs.
The portal is operated by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, not the Ministry of Finance. Although today’s policies and programs and budget will be prepared by the Ministry of Finance, this time the Prime Minister’s Office has taken more interest in it.
Earlier, when Prime Minister Balendra Shah Balen met the lawmakers of all the provinces, Balen had instructed his secretariat to submit the suggestions made by the lawmakers when they raised the issue of the upcoming budget.
Accordingly, the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has claimed that it has launched a suggestion collection portal to ensure direct participation of the general public in the policy, program and budget for the coming fiscal year.
The policies and programmes for the next fiscal year will be unveiled tomorrow. The government claims that this digital platform has been launched with the objective of making the governance system more transparent and people-oriented by incorporating the real needs and fundamental expectations of the people in the policies and programs. The government has declared a public holiday on Sunday.
The government has claimed that this step has been taken in line with the Prime Minister’s main plan to respect the sentiments and expertise of the general public and not limit the policy-making process to the administrative circle. However, there is a question about the impact of operating this portal at the last moment and how much the suggestions will be included.
