Kathmandu. The United States said on Saturday that it had carried out new strikes in “some places” in Iran. The attack was in retaliation for the latest attack on a ship en route through the Strait of Hormuz.
“In direct response to Iran’s continued aggression against commercial shipping, the U.S. military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) struck Iran on Sunday,” CENTCOM said in a statement.
“Iran attacked the Panamanian-flagged oil tanker Kiku on Saturday with more than 2 million barrels of crude oil,” CENTCOM said in a statement.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The United States on Sunday responded to Iran’s airstrikes on certain Iranian oil tankers, Washington said.
CENTCOM later posted a blurry 35-second video on Twitter, showing explosions from the sky in different areas.
“In retaliation to Iran’s drone attack on Kiku, US Navy and Air Force fighter jets struck 10 Iranian military targets in and around the Strait of Hormuz overnight local time,” the post said.
The US military said the latest strikes targeted Iran’s surveillance infrastructure, communications systems, air defense sites, drone storage facilities and the ability to plant explosives at sea.
Iranian media reported several explosions in the Sirik and Qeshm regions of southern Iran.
On Friday, the United States retaliated against Iran’s attack on another ship, the Ever Lovely.
– Attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain in retaliation for US attacks: Iran-
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards said on Sunday that the attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain were in retaliation for the US attack on Iranian soil. At the same time, the guards have warned of a “strong” response in case of any further aggression.
“They have struck eight critical US military facilities at Ali al-Salem in Kuwait and Fifth Fleet in Port Salmon, Bahrain,” the Guards said in a statement.
“Any enemy attack, whether on a negligible target or on any pretext, will be retaliated in a way that shatters its dreams,” the guards added.
