Kathmandu. Similarly, Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel said sustainable policy solution to educational problems would be sought on the basis of dialogue and suggestions from stakeholders.
Posting on social media today, Minister Pokharel said that he has been adopting a ‘listen and learning’ style to understand the serious issues of education sector since he assumed office in the post of Education Minister. According to him, some rules and directives required for immediate reforms and good governance were carried out in the first 100 days and now the Ministry’s priority is centered on the new Education Act, Technical Education Act and contemporary reforms in higher education.
In this connection, the team comprising the Ministry’s chief advisor and the head of the School Education Division has been collecting problems, suggestions and expectations from the stakeholders related to the education sector by reaching all seven provinces through the ‘Education Dialogue’ programme.
Concerns of the local level, teachers, education employees, guardians, schools and students are being heard directly through the dialogue. The problem and concerns of Early Childhood Development (ECD) facilitator, teachers, school management, school staff, parents and students are also prioritized in the dialogue.
Minister Pokharel said that the suggestions received on the role of local level, challenges in school management and various policy-level problems in education sector would be made basis for further improvements.
The stakeholders who are unable to participate in the physical dialogue can send their suggestions, problems and expectations through ‘Education Sambad: Suggestions, Problems and Expectations Collection Form’. The suggestions received would be incorporated in the policy-making process, the ministry said.
Similarly, the Department of Education is preparing to collect suggestions on the Education Bill by involving the local governments in all seven provinces. It is said the expert team formed to change the outline of the national curriculum has also reached its final stage.
Minister Pokharel expressed his commitment to conclude the work of the Education Bill at the earliest by listening to all stakeholders, learning from experts on necessary issues and taking decision on the basis of facts.
